Hello Friends!

The past two falls have been unreal for sports in Philadelphia. Moved here Sept 2022 and partied on Broad Street twice while the Phillies, Eagles, Union, and Sixers had great seasons. So, I wrote a song about the fans, who rule. Don't believe the hype.

Now Sports songs are tricky - you want a simple rousing fist in the air thing, but without lines that make it so topical it can’t live past the now.

And they can be cheesy. I mean, any genre where “put me in coach, I’m ready to play, today” is the gold standard… Leonard Cohen it ain't.

Inspired by all the Red in the city on a playoff Saturday, followed by Green on an Eagles Sunday, I was riding my bike Monday when the phrase “Let’s paint Philly red / then paint it green” hit me..

I tried several harmonies but settled on thieving the Smiths' I - ii - IV - V. Keyboard horns played a bit of Dancing on My Own, lyrics reference Gritty, Phanatic, and the team colors. We are living in the moment as fans. Go Phillies!

Half the proceeds of any sales of the song will go to Philabundance - making songs about sports is fun, but hunger is not. Help fight food insecurity while rocking out!
